Spoon

Simon is getting the hang of feeding himself with a spoon. Usually the food makes it into his mouth. We think it's pretty exciting and are trying to encourage him, so if we're eating and randomly start clapping and telling Simon that he's done well, you'll know what it's about.

Oil

What do you get when you combine Simon and a 4L can of oil?
A big mess.
Simon pulled the can of oil out of the cupboard and spilled it everywhere. We ended up with oil all over the kitchen and bathroom. At least it wasn't hard to clean up.

Later that day . . .

On the same day as the banana smoothie, Simon was playing with the saucepans when a lid went missing.

Banana Smoothie

Simon had a banana smoothie for breakfast the other day. He liked it so much, he thought one of his toys would enjoy a swim in it.

Pumpkin Soup

Simon likes to feed himself now. He likes dipping his spoon into pumpkin soup and getting some into his mouth. Although usually he gets a lot on him.

Cooking

Simon helped Del (his godmother) make cookies yesterday. He was a bit skeptical about licking the beaters, but once he realised how good the dough tasted, he licked it all off. He ended up with a lot on his face, clothes and on mummy's shirt.
Del also gave Simon a choc chip to try. Simon didn't like it and spat it out. Mummy was very proud of him.

Shape-O

Remember this toy? It's called a shape-O and it's one of Simon's favourites. He knows that the pieces go inside, he can put all the pieces in (if he has a little help) and occasionally can do it all by himself. In this picture he's trying to put part of another toy into the shape-o, which didn't work.
He even has a little pattern to how he puts the pieces in. First he picks up the circle and the oval (one in each hand) and puts them in and then it's time to put the cross in.
Once all the pieces are in, it's time for them to come out again. Simon hasn't discovered the handles yet, so he reaches through the holes to pull the pieces back out. He hasn't succeeded yet.
